In recent years, we have seen a radical transformation in the medical cannabis space. America has gone through fundamental changes in how it views cannabis use, aligning political leaders and their constituents for the first time in our history. Changes that have swept through thirty-three states, leading to the state-level legalization of cannabis use for strictly medical purposes, creating a direct conflict with federal law. But as legislators grow to accept the evidence-based benefits legalization and the appeal of cannabis culture, the country finds itself in uncharted waters.
Over the past two decades, the movement to legalize, decriminalize, and demystify cannabis has gained significant momentum. A movement led by patients with debilitating conditions, their families, and caregivers who now have direct experience with the medicinal properties of cannabis. A movement that is now at the doorstep of many healthcare providers and policymakers.
At Treevana, we have been closely monitoring the medical cannabis landscape. It is undeniable how much the industry and economy has transformed in just a few short years. But with any emerging opportunity comes hopeful entrepreneurs and investors looking to grab a portion of the possible fortune. So during this “Green Goldrush” what we see are dazzling headlines about dispensaries, grow farms, and culinary developments. But what about the individuals who are working tirelessly to advocate for their families or the experienced local healthcare provider who quietly recommends cannabis over a dangerous pharmaceutical? These voices need to be heard too. The core of what we do lies in the freedom and power of the people to raise their hands, and their voices, and share these stories. It’s through this kind of collaboration that we are able to give advocates a chance to draw attention to causes that traditional publications might sweep under the rug, discredit, or flat out ignore. That is why we created Treevana Magazine.
